New PAD guidelines, scaffolding comeback, and future of bioresorbable stents: expert insights

Jean Sénémaud, from the PVI 2024 Social Media Team, interviews Sabine Steiner, a member of PVI's "Peripheral Artery Disease" (PAD) scientific committee, about the latest developments in PAD treatment.

They discuss the impact of the new guidelines from the European Society for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, emphasizing a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach.

They also highlight a renewed focus on optimal stent implantation techniques and on differences in restenosis among various devices.

Looking ahead, they explore the future of bioresorbable stents (BRS), referencing the Life-BTK trial and the potential for new clinical trials for new treatments with novel bioresorbable scaffolds.

Lastly, Pr Steiner shares her expectations for limus-eluting devices for femoropopliteal and below-the-knee segments.
